7/08/10 - Cilantro-lime gin, Caramelized onions and carrots

So, I have two days left of this thing, and I will probably just forget to make something tomorrow, so here are two. Advance planning! Also my neighborhood liquor store recognizes me now.

Me: Hi! How are you?
Clerk: Let me guess, handle a’ Seagrams, no bag?

Also I went to the MOFM/NMOFM today and got some candy onions and carrots (also the cilantro and a tiny cucumber because tiny food…). All of my roommates are better cooks than I am and they suggested caramelizing the onions and carrots in beer. And now I am suggesting it to you. Because it is good.

7/07/10 - Onion jam, Lemon-dill popcorn

With the thought that an incomplete Etsy store probably doesn’t count, here are two things. This onion is my jam. So Begins Our Alabee is my other jam. It went on the NV classic brie-apple-prosciutto sandwich.

I am pretty ignorant of the popcorn ways. Did you know you can just pop it on your stove in a pot? And toss it with dill and lemon juice and salt and it’s DELICIOUS???!!! You probably knew that. Also all I did for this one was zest the lemon and squeeze too much juice on the finished product.

7/06/10 - Etsy Store. Kind of.
I set up an Etsy store, I have a lot of clothes that no longer fit me (weight gain, yippee. Also I do not have the confidence or whatever to pull off things with a lot of frills. That shirt above fits, but can you see me in that? Didn’t think so.)  but there’s nothing in it yet. For one, most of the stuff is long sleeved or otherwise heavy. Two, I need to work on taking good photos. But once it’s up of course I will make sure everyone under the sun knows about it. I can tell you right now nothing will be over $20. This shirt will probably be like, seven.

7/05/10 - Batfloat
After a long and indecisive journey from my house to Taylor’s (solo journey, he was at home and agreeable, I called every few minutes with drastic changes to whatever plan we had just made), we gave up on all of them and made floats with framboise and lemon gelato.
They were supposed to be key lime pie floats with lime gelato and…hefeweissen? Something that would go with lime ice cream. But they didn’t have any lime and by that point the plans had changed so many times what difference would one more make? Don’t plan things with me if you find that statement bothersome.
Also, yeah, that’s Batman Forever. You can tell because he has nipples.

I cannot show you

7/04/10 - SURPRISE

I can’t post what I made today because it’s a painting and the recipient reads this. She knows it’s coming. I just want her to see it in person.

7/03/10 - BATTLESHOTS
Battleshots is a game that Mark and I play on occasion. It combines my love of battleship with his love of drinking games.
There are 4 boats: Party Boat (P.T. Boat, 2 shots), Destroyeder (Destroyer, 3 shots) Boozer (Cruiser, 4 shots), Beer Draft Carrier (Aircraft Carrier, 5 shots). The shots are mixed drinks, rum & coke, it is basically one mixed drink total, we are not crazy people. If you hit one of their boats, they take that shot. If you miss, you take a sip of your beer. Battleshots.
This is my side of the game board right before we started. I lost.

7/02/10 - Quesadilla?
A tortilla with melted mahon reserva and some asparagus. Also a g/t because I am a g/t machine.

7/01/10 - Chicago Hot Dog Salad
HOT DOG SALAD COME ON! LIFE IS GRAND!
From Bittman’s 101 salads again. HOT DOG SALAD.

6/30/10 - Steaklet, More Gin (the other twofer, we are settled now)

That steak looks weird in the picture but I promise you that it was cooked perfectly and was delicious. That is bbq sauce on top. Also asparagus and broccoli.

The gin is cherry-lime, using leftover cherries from the Berry Thing and key limes because I make a lot of impulse fruit purchases. That is a wine glass with stems and pits to the side, yes. Klassy.

ALSO MY HANDS POST-CHERRY MASSACRE

6/29/10 - Watermelon Salad/Berry Thing (a twofer!)

The watermelon salad is from Mark Bittman’s 101 salads and it KICKS SO MUCH ASS. Look at what’s in it. Watermelon, olives, onion, mint feta. It wins.

The berries! Taylor was in charge of desserts, he found this treasure which we modified by adding blueberries and using Riesling instead of brandy. We also put it on cinnamon-nutmeg ice cream. Can you FUCKING IMAGINE HOW GOOD THAT WAS you really should try this one, everyone that is still reading this.
